Hebrew Free Loan Association of Houston offers interest-free loans to Jewish individuals and families of the greater Houston area whose needs are urgent and who do not qualify for loans through normal financial channels. Interest-free loans, instead of charity, fill and important gap in our social system by promoting self-sufficiency with dignity.

About HFLA Houston
The Hebrew Free Loan Association of Houston was formed in 1932, a time of financial turmoil for both the country and the Houston Jewish community. HFLA was created to fulfill the Biblical commandment to lend to the poor and needy as found in Devarim (Deuteronomy):
LEARN MOREIf there be among you a poor man, …thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy poor brother: but thou shalt open they hand wide to him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he lacks.
